DORBA Crew

Daniel McElrath found DORBA the way many of us did — by accident. A Coast Guard vet who moved to Dallas in 2007, he bought a bike off Facebook Marketplace during the 2020 lockdown, took his first ride at Katie Jackson, and paid his membership that same day. Five years and countless workdays later, he's KJ's new Trail Steward.
Bob Carson didn't stumble into DORBA — he's been building Corinth Community Park's trail since DORBA first got involved. A 19-year Corinth resident and Air Force vet, he's put in the work through two Judgment Day events and the new pump track. Now he's CCP's new Trail Steward — and firmly of the view that it's a hidden gem worth the drive.
After ten years stewarding Isle du Bois, David Starr is handing the keys to Bruce Walker. A Denton native who's lived across the street from the Greenbelt since 2007, Bruce went from hiking and rucking these trails to riding them — and now he's keeping them clear so the rest of us can do the same.

DORBA is thrilled to welcome two powerhouse leaders to the board this May. Philip Haigh, our new Director of Strategic Planning, brings an extraordinary depth of vision to this role. As Executive Director of The Loop Dallas — the 50-mile managed trail circuit reshaping how an entire city moves — Philip understands better than almost anyone that trails are not an amenity, they are infrastructure. His track record of turning bold ideas into tangible, city-scale realities is exactly the kind of thinking DORBA needs as we look ahead. Joining him is Sean Laughlin, our new Director of Strategic Partnerships, who is no stranger to this community. From championing the build of Creekside MTB Park to producing the DORBA MTB Festival at 4R Ranch, Sean has already left his fingerprints all over what makes riding in DFW so special. With these two in the fold, we enter the second half of 2026 with serious momentum and more significant moves in the works that we can't wait to share with you.

There are roughly 290 acres of land around Big Cedar Wilderness Trails that is being acquired by the City of Dallas for use as a public park, through a third-party called Trust for Public Land (TPL). DORBA supports this land acquisition and looks forward to working with TPL, City of Dallas, and the public throughout the process.
